The local Hainan University has many students who are studying how to teach Chinese as a foreign language. Some of these students are looking for part time work as personal Chinese tutors. These are the people we will put you in contact with. Rates are very reasonable: around 30 RMB per hour. You can discuss directly with your tutor how many hours tuition you want and agree a price. Haikou Banana Hostel does NOT earn any money from this. You pay all the money directly to your tutor. You can feel happy that you are creating a job for a local Chinese citizen and helping them fund their education. If you wanted, you could go directly to the University and post an avert for a Chinese Language Tutor yourself.
We have already put a number of Westerns in contact with personal Chinese teachers and it has worked out well for both parties.
