Welcome to the Haikou Banana Hostel web site.
We have just upgraded our wifi network so everywhere in the hostel now has a good signal, including the outdoor area. Wifi is free for all customers.
July 2011: We are now proud to stock Hainan Rum from Kicking Ox. It is brewed locally in Wenchang county.
Bamboo pergola in the back garden has advanced a few steps. We have used local products such as bamboo, hemp rope and fishing nets.
April 2011: We now offer authenic pizza and pasta dishes in the evenings. We are the first and only place in Hakou to offer such food. We still offer the English breakfast and banana pancakes in the morning.
We recently found out that we are featured in the latest Lonely Planet guide book. You can find us on page 619 of the 2010 edition. The guide picks us as the place to stay in Haikou! Thank you to everyone who helped this happen.
Our aim is to create a relaxed and comfortable place to stay. Watch DVDs on our 43 inch plasma TV. Sit back and listen to music, enjoy the sunshine in the banana garden. Have a game on our pool table, or just surf the internet.
We have both dormitory beds and private rooms available. Our rooms are very simple, so don't expect too much luxury. Our rooms are good value and all our rooms have a private bathroom and shower. Our reception staff speak English (not very common in Hainan) and can help you with your travel plans.
Haikou is the capital city of the Hainan province of China. Hainan is a tropical island situated just south of the Chinese mainland, with Vietnam to the west and Philippines to the east. Haikou is an ideal entry point to exploring the rest of Hainan island.
